Your Moving Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know before booking your move with our team in Galesburg — straightforward answers, no fluff.

What should I do the night before my move?

Pack a personal essentials bag with items you will need right away — chargers, medications, a change of clothes, and important documents. Make sure all remaining boxes are sealed and labeled, pathways are clear, and parking is arranged for the truck. A little preparation the evening before makes moving morning run considerably smoother.

How do I get an accurate moving quote?

The most accurate quotes come from an on-site walkthrough. A crew lead visits your home or office, surveys every room and item, and provides a written estimate before any work is scheduled. Phone and online estimates are available for straightforward moves, but an in-person visit removes guesswork for larger jobs.

Can I leave clothes in my dresser drawers during the move?

For lighter dressers on local moves, leaving soft clothing inside is often fine — but we recommend removing anything heavy, fragile, or irreplaceable. We will advise you on the day based on the dresser type and distance involved. Keeping drawers lighter also makes lifting safer for the crew.

Do your movers work on weekends and holidays?

Yes. We offer flexible scheduling that includes evenings, weekends, and most holidays. Availability varies by season, so we recommend booking weekend slots at least two weeks in advance, especially between May and September when demand in Galesburg and Knox County is at its peak.

How long does a typical local move take?

A one-bedroom apartment usually takes two to four hours with a two-person crew. A three-bedroom house typically runs five to eight hours with a larger team. Factors like stairways, elevator access, long carry distances, and the amount of packing involved all affect the total time. Your written estimate will include a projected duration.

What size truck will be used for my move?

Truck size is matched to the volume of your inventory. We use 16 to 26-foot box trucks depending on the job. During your estimate, the crew lead will assess your belongings and confirm which truck size is appropriate so everything fits in a single trip whenever possible.

Can you move my car or motorcycle along with my household items?

We specialize in moving household and commercial contents rather than vehicles. For vehicle transport, we can refer you to a licensed auto carrier we work with regularly. Let us know early and we will help coordinate timing so everything arrives at the new location around the same time.

What if my new place is not ready when the movers arrive?

Let us know as soon as possible if there is a delay at the destination. We can hold items on the truck for a short time or arrange temporary storage at a secure facility near Galesburg while you sort out access. Communication early in the day helps us adjust logistics and avoid extra charges.

Do you wrap and protect furniture before loading?

Yes. Every piece of furniture is padded with moving blankets and secured with stretch wrap before it goes on the truck. Legs, corners, and glass surfaces receive extra attention. Protective materials are included at no additional charge on all full-service moves.

How do you handle apartments with no elevator?

Our crews are experienced with walk-up buildings and staircase carries throughout Galesburg. We bring the right equipment — dollies, straps, and stair rollers — and plan the loading sequence to keep things efficient. Let us know the floor number and staircase layout when booking so we assign an appropriately sized team.

Can I pack some things myself and have you handle the rest?

Absolutely. Partial packing is one of our most common service combinations. You handle the everyday items and we take care of furniture, large appliances, fragile pieces, and anything that needs professional wrapping. Just let us know what you have already packed so we can plan the rest of the job accurately.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and cash. Payment is collected after the job is complete and all items have been placed to your satisfaction. Full payment details are confirmed when you book and outlined in your written estimate.

Do you move items into storage units directly?

Yes. If you need items delivered to a storage facility rather than a home or office, we can handle that as the final destination. Let us know the unit location and access details in advance and we will load and deliver directly, saving you an extra step on moving day.

How do I know my belongings will not be mixed with another customer's items?

Each move is assigned a dedicated truck for the duration of the job. We do not combine loads from multiple customers on the same vehicle. Your belongings are loaded, transported, and delivered without any contact with another customer’s property.

What happens if the moving day weather is bad?

We move year-round, including through the cold winters and unpredictable spring weather common in western Illinois. Our crews use additional floor protection, covered walkways where possible, and extra wrapping for moisture-sensitive items. Moves are rarely postponed due to weather — we come prepared to work in most conditions.

Can I make changes to my booking after it is confirmed?

Yes. We understand plans change and we do our best to accommodate date adjustments, inventory changes, and scope updates. Contact us as soon as you know a change is needed and we will work out the best solution. Last-minute changes are handled based on crew and truck availability at that time.
